Wide format printing for everyday use and outdoor work
Our large format printing service covers banners, posters, boards and vehicle graphics for shops, events, workshops and fleets. We print for inland heat, coastal humidity and strong sun, so the material choice matters just as much as the artwork. Whether you need one board for a notice point or a full run of signs for several sites, we match the print method to the job and the budget.
Standard output sizes are flexible. Common banner sizes are 1 m x 2 m, 1.5 m x 3 m and 2 m x 4 m, while boards can be cut to custom dimensions for wall mounting, fence fixing or post installation. We also print decals and graphics for vehicle fitment, including door branding, rear window film and full side panels. If the surface is curved or uneven, we check the material before print so the finish sits properly.
What is included in the print job
Each job starts with an artwork check and a practical discussion about where the print will live. That helps us decide on resolution, size, fixing points and any finishing needed. For outdoor work, we often suggest laminate, board mounting or hemmed banner edges. For shorter term indoor use, a lighter finish may be enough.
- Artwork sizing and basic prepress checks
- Large format print on selected media
- Trim to size and edge finishing
- Lamination for added surface protection where needed
- Board mounting for rigid signs and display panels
- Eyelets, sleeves or tape finishes for banners
- Vinyl cutting for lettering and graphics
We also handle reprints and updates when your contact details, opening hours or pricing change. That is common for shops, contractors and service vehicles, especially when municipal notices or trading details need to stay current.
How the process runs from file to fitting
The process is straightforward. You send through your artwork, or ask us to assist with design setup. We check the file for size, bleed, image quality and text legibility, then confirm what the final print will be on. After approval, the job moves into print, finishing and collection or installation.
If the job includes vehicle graphics or installation, we plan around the vehicle and the weather. A wrap or large decal should not be rushed on a wet or dusty day, and a panel must be clean and dry before fitment. For boards and banners, we can advise on fixings that work better for corrugated walls, palisade fencing or exposed roadside points. Small correction needed on some jobs, but we will flag that before print so you are not paying for a mistake later.
- Send artwork or request setup help
- We check size, resolution and layout
- You approve the proof or print ready version
- We print, finish and prepare the order
- Collection, delivery or installation follows
Turnaround times that suit local trading
Turnaround depends on quantity, finishing and whether the job needs installation. Simple items like posters or small runs of vinyl graphics can often move quickly, while banners with hemming or boards with mounting take longer. Vehicle work usually needs extra time for cleaning, fitment and curing, especially on humid days or when the schedule is tight.
For standard print jobs, many orders are completed within 2 to 4 working days once artwork is approved. Larger runs, complex finishes or sign installation may take 5 to 7 working days or more. If you are working to a market date, opening event or road-side launch, tell us early so we can plan the print queue and installation slot properly. We would rather give you a realistic date than promise too much and miss it.
Pricing that is clear before we print
Pricing is based on size, material, print coverage, finishing and quantity. A small poster run costs differently to a full vehicle side panel or a mounted board, because the setup and material waste are not the same. We quote on the actual job, not on vague package wording.
For better value, larger quantities usually reduce the unit price. Standard repeat items such as safety signs, menu boards and business banners can be priced more efficiently once the size and artwork are fixed. We also help clients compare options, for example whether a laminated print on board is better than a banner, or whether a frosted window graphic will solve the visibility issue with less maintenance. The aim is to spend where it counts, not everywhere.
- Single items are priced individually
- Repeat runs can reduce the unit cost
- Lamination, mounting and fitment are quoted separately when needed
- Artwork changes after approval may affect the final price
Materials and specs we use for sign work
We select materials according to where the print will be used. Outdoor signs need more protection than indoor display boards, and vehicle graphics need materials that can handle washing, sun and regular contact. Coastal towns like Wellington and Malmesbury can be hard on exposed prints, so the right finish matters from the start.
Common specs include 300 dpi artwork at final size for close viewing, 150 dpi to 200 dpi for larger viewing distances, banner materials from light duty to heavier outdoor grades, and self-adhesive vinyl for cut lettering and printed graphics. Boards can be mounted on foam board, PVC or similar rigid surfaces depending on the application. We can also apply protective laminate for added surface life where scuffs, sun and regular handling are expected.
