Built in Paarl, working across the Boland
Catprints and Signs is based in Paarl and works daily with customers from Wellington, Stellenbosch, Franschhoek, Worcester, Malmesbury, Klapmuts and Simondium. Our job is simple: produce clear, well made print and sign work that suits the way people trade, travel and advertise in this part of the Western Cape. Some clients need a small run of business cards or flyers, while others need a full set of vehicle graphics, shop signs or safety boards for a yard, workshop or site.
Because we work locally, we understand the practical details that matter here. Coastal humidity, summer heat, wind on open roads and load-shedding all affect how a job is prepared and finished. A vinyl sticker for a bakkie used on gravel roads needs different attention to a poster for a front counter, and a safety sign for a factory entrance must stay readable in bright sun. We plan for those conditions from the start, not after the job is already printed.
How we started and what still matters
The business was founded in 2008 and has grown through steady work, repeat clients and word of mouth. Over time, the range expanded from everyday print items into larger format work, sign fabrication and vehicle branding. The core idea has stayed the same: give people honest advice, print carefully, and deliver work that can hold up in use.
We do not rush past the small things. A colour that is slightly off, a logo with the wrong spacing, or a safety sign with text that is too small can cause problems later. That is why our process includes checking artwork, confirming sizes and making sure the final output suits the surface it is going onto. It is ordinary work done properly, and that matters more than anything else.

The people behind the work
Our team combines design, production, finishing and installation experience, so most jobs stay under one roof from the first file to the final fitment. Pieter Johannes van der Merwe leads the business as Managing Director. Leandri Botha handles studio and prepress, Mihlali Ndlovu runs wide format printing, Ruan Smit supervises sign fabrication, Anele Jacobs handles vehicle wrap installation, and Zelda October manages sales and client care. That mix of skills means the person who speaks to you understands the production side too, which saves time and avoids confusion.
It also means we can guide customers in a practical way. If a file needs cleanup, if a banner needs proper finishing, or if a vehicle needs a faster, less disruptive install, we can say so before anything is started. We keep the conversation direct and clear, because most people just want the job done right and on time.
- Design and prepress support before printing begins
- Wide format and sign production handled in house
- Installation and fitment arranged by people who know the job
What clients come to us for
Our work covers a wide spread of day to day needs for businesses, riders and drivers. A new company may need a basic set of business cards, flyers and a banner for opening week. A contractor may need safety signs, board mounting and updates for site notices. A rider may want motorbike decals or reflective elements that stay legible and secure. A fleet owner may need vehicle wraps, contra-vision, magnets or window frosting to turn a vehicle into a working advert without making it harder to use.
We also handle reprints and updates, which is useful when contact details change or a design needs a refresh after a season of hard use. Not every client wants a full rebrand. Sometimes they simply need one panel replaced, a faded sign renewed, or a new batch printed to match what is already in place. That kind of work needs accuracy, and a good eye for what should be matched exactly.

How we approach quality and turnaround
Good print work starts before the machine runs. We check artwork, spacing, size, colours and material choice so the end result suits the application. If a sign is going outdoors in Paarl or Worcester, it needs different preparation from a display going into a reception area. If a vehicle will be parked in sun all day, the finish and fitting method need to be chosen with that in mind. We do not cut corners on prep because that is where most problems start.
Turnaround is handled with the same practical mindset. Some jobs are straightforward and can move quickly, while others need more time for finishing, drying, cutting or installation. We keep clients informed and aim to avoid surprises. On busy weeks or during load shedding, we plan production carefully so the job still leaves the shop in good order. It is better to be direct about timing than to promise something we cannot keep.
Why local businesses keep coming back
Many of our customers work in trade, retail, transport, hospitality, agriculture and local services. They come back because they need a supplier who understands the pace of real work. A sign may need to go up before a market weekend, a truck may need fresh branding before a route starts, or a shop window may need new lettering after trading hours. We know those deadlines matter because they affect sales, visibility and day to day operations.
We also value straightforward service. If a file is not ready, we say so. If a better material will save money over time, we say that too. If a smaller revision will make a banner easier to read from the road, we suggest it. That kind of honesty builds trust and helps clients get better results. In this line of work, trust is not a slogan, it is the thing that keeps the jobs coming in.

The way to get in touch
If you need printing or signage in Paarl, Wellington or anywhere in the wider Boland, the easiest way to reach us is through the enquiry form on our contact page. Tell us what you need, where it will be used and whether you need artwork help, printing only, or full supply and installation. The more detail you give us, the easier it is to quote correctly and plan the job properly.
We work with businesses and individuals who want neat, dependable results without fuss. Whether it is a single sign, a vehicle set, a reprint or a larger branding job, our aim is the same: make something clear, durable and suitable for the job at hand. That is what Catprints and Signs has been doing since 2008, and it is how we intend to keep working.
